Thank you card #2

This card may be, but how big of a card do you need to say "thank you" for something? =P I've had many moments when I feel obligated to write more because there's so much writing space haha. I'm selling these babies for $1.50 w/ matching embossed envelopes.

Funday Sunday!

Kicked started the day with my buddy Jason. We went to a craft garage sale and I bought two stamps sets. He bought a batman paper punch and a few cardstock.

The were a GREAT buy compared to what they really cost.   The garage sale had a visa machine, how cool is that?

We then had dinner for my cousin who's leaving :( After that we insanely headed out to Night Market lol This is what I got, a giant cute ass key chain! My cousin knows how to drive a hard bargain. I always bought at whatever prices they give me because I didn't know you could bargain or how to. Sometimes she doesn't even have to ask for it they just give it to her. She's a natural alright. Never shopping there without her again hehe

Best wishes!

I found this "Best Wishes" stamp for only 5 bucks at Walmart! I gotta say...I love rubber stamps more than acrylic now that they come with "cling" backings. I had to make a 3-D envelope because the flower is quite tall.

I'm giving this to my cousin tomorrow for her farewell dinner/sleepover!

One Dolla finds! :D

I found a dollar store that has a pretty good amount of craft items! I bought a few butterflies embellishments and a self healing cutting mat. They aren't too shabby either.

Wooden puzzle set!

After my last mishap with the last puzzle :( We went out and bought a new one!
The pieces are made from real wood!!
Zoe is all over the whole beach thing.

thank you card #1

Sometimes sending out a thank you card means so much more than just a text or email. :)

This is the outcome of me fiddling with inks and a water spritzer.

Butterflies and Lace

I choose lavender and cream for my 4 strips which are 1/2"x4". The base is 7"x10" scored down the middle.
A few stamps were stamped randomly onto the strips. I used "Seafoam white" and "Lilac" embossing powders.

For the embellishment I used a mini rose sitting on a flower wrapped in a bit of tulle with pearls on the side.

The pearl wouldn't stay on with regular glue booo, so I had to pull out the glue gun. I really don't like how the glue gun leaks!

The final finish! Too much work? You can always just buy it from me =P. Seriously buy it!!!! ahaha

Chicken fajitas

Ingredients:
Chicken breast sliced
Bell peppers and onion sliced
Fajita spice mix
Salt and pepper
Corn flour tortillas

Heat skillet medium high and stir fry chicken until no longer pink and add fajita mix, bell peppers, and onions. Once the veggies are tender with a crunch they're ready! Add salt and pepper to taste. Lay them in your tortillas and add salsa, sour cream, and cheese to it. It's always better to use fresh salsa btw!

*Note: I often do not cook with exact measurements. I just add as much or little to my liking which means I measure with my taste buds =P

Believe

Another Fairy greeting!

The words were done with "Silver Tinsel" embossing powder.

Water based inks is what I used for the background.

Awesome deal snags!

I've been searching for OPI's Pirates of the Caribbean line specifically "Mermaid's Tears" which was sold out everywhere.
I was so stoked and surprised when I  found it the other day at a discount department store. From first glance I knew it was it before picking up the little bottle to check the color label. Definitely couldn't pass up the good deal so I bought 3 colors from that line.

Happy Birthday Mary!

Red is the color of good luck..well in her culture =P I'm so late on posting this her birthday was last month, I think.

Friday, June 17

Congrats Mary!

This was my first time using Tim Holtz stamps and it was quite difficult. The stamps were sticky and smelly lol

My cousin, Mary graduated the other day! She's leaving in a couple of months to study for her Master's. We're proud!

First mini paper bag scrapbook!

What a pretty mess :) This is my first mini well any scrapbook I've ever made.

I told my cousin that I was making a scrapbook from paper bags and she was like "...what.." lol She thought it was cool when I showed it to her though =P

I kept it simple so Macy could add some of her own touch to it. She's been wanting to scrapbook, but doesn't have the time so I thought I'd give her one that's halfway there!

 Here's a sneak peek ;)

I love that there are pockets/sleeves to store photos/keepsakes! This is definitely a win!

I've never made scrapbook pages before, but it turned out to be not too shabby...I think haha Well, I can only get better from here!

Greens with a touch of pink.

One of my last purchases from Michaels! I've officially broken up with Michaels because of their high prices and terrible customer service.

Anyways, this card wasn't for anyone really in particular, just another result of boredom :). Birds are so much prettier on paper than in real life lol To me, they are pretty terrifying looking in person, especially those pigeons!

Happy Birthday Macy!

Okay I know it's slightly be-lated lol Anyways here is the making of it:
For the background I decided on using a "wallpaper" design.

The "cake" I cut out two rectangular shapes. I made the bottom tier longer and wider. The upper corners are rounded and embossed the pieces with different designs. I love using the dots and swirls, it's my fave!
I hope she loves it as I had fun making it!

Happy Early Birthday Erica!

Since I wasn't going to get to see Erica on her actual birthday (she's gone for 3 months, so long lah)  I decided to make her an early bday card and have sushi din din at Ebisu. I made the card bright and cutesy because... it matches her house!! LOL

Ebisu was really nice! It's a contemporary/sushi sports bar with a touch of class! They had a full bar where you can order drinks and flat screens left and right. The prices of the food was not bad either and the menu had  great selection and choices!
The baby fried octopus was perfect. The batter did not overpower the taste of the octopus.

I've never had Agedashi Tofu with seaweed before and I liked it. I think the tofu should have been sliced into smaller cubes because the cornstarch layer just fell apart when I picked it up. The cornstarch/flour was too lightly dusted in my opinion. There wasn't enough crunch and the sauce tasted a little water down.

At the top of the photo is their Atlantic Salmon marinated in soy based olive oil topped with citrus white wine mayo and flavored with garlic chips. Let me tell you, this dish had a unique kick to it, you could taste every flavour!  As always, I think Salmon and citrus flavours are the perfect combination.

In the middle is the BC Blazer. It tastes like the name. It was like woahh....haha There's crab meat and avocado wrapped in seaweed and atlantic salmon topped with unagi sauce, Japanese mayo, and tuna flakes. I could only handle a few of these babies because they filled me up pretty quickly!

Spring semi-formal greeting!

I cut out flower shapes from  organza/tulle material and slowly waved the end of the petals over a flame so it would curl, giving it more dimension. Cutting a hole on the side of the card for the ribbon was rather difficult because my scissors are ginormous! I messed up a few times >:(.

It looked too plain with just the purple so I added a thin white ribbon in the center. I finally got my hands on some "round" corner paper punches that I bought for a steal! I got excited so I made this lol

Now who shall I give it to....hmmm Guess I'll have to wait for a friend who'll have a spring wedding. It's definitely not a birthday card.

Happy Birthday Shannon!

This was a VERY last minute card for my hubby's coworker! All I did was cut out the shape of a cupcake, embossed the cupcake top with swirls and added glitter, tied a ribbon, slapped a name tag, and cherry on top! *yawns* I'm going to bed now :)

Tuesday, April 5

Dream. Shine. Sparkle.

I used a flower punch from the fiskar's spring collection. Punching out multiple flowers and curling and inking the ends before stacking them on top of each other.

I have a thing for fairies because they are magical, beautiful and kick ass :)

I had some scraps of paper left from trimming/cutting and decided to make a mini card.

Sometimes when I'm not careful, I transfer ink from my fingers onto areas of the card :( Luckily, I'm awesome at improvising! I just stamped the areas where I messed up and place a piece of card stock in the center. Originally I wanted the inside to be plain white, but I guess this is nicer anyways!

Ponchos

Last Thursday the gals and I had dinner at Ponchos in West Vancouver. When I we went inside I was surprised to see how fancy this place was compared to all the Mexican restaurants I've been to. The waiters were dressed in traditional Mexican dresses too! This place is too cute.

Fruity Mango Margarita to start off the dinner! It's so good that my friend ninja it away from me because she finished hers.
Pollo in Salsa Verde served with beans and rice.

Beef Burrito served with rice and beans.
Steam clams with tomatillo sauce. The Zesty flavour of tomatillo was the perfect sauce to drizzle on top of the clams.
The salsa was the best tasting salsa ever! *drools* I even used it in my fajitas. It was that good! I wanted to order some to-go so I can eat it with chips, but I forget. Next time.

The Beef Fajitas was served with corn tortillas, guacamole, and sour cream. This was a build your own fajitas type of deal. Even without tortillas the beef and sauteed onions were a delight.
